Extended Hours

The practice provides evening surgeries 2 evenings a week.  These appointments are designed for those patients who cannot get to the surgery during normal working hours.

All emergency calls during this time will be dealt with by the out of hours service (Westcall) on 978 7811.

Extended hours are:

• Monday   6.30 - 7.30pm
• Thursday 6.30 - 7.30pm 

Please telephone reception if you require an appointment during these hours. 

*The appointment line is closed from 12.30 until 2.00pm Monday to Friday.

Extended hours are for pre-booked appointments only. Prescriptions, letters etc will not be available to be collected at these clinics.

*Please note when booking your appointment at the surgery - parking restrictions in Priory Avenue are from 9:00am to 5.30pm.

When We Are Closed

There is always a doctor available for emergencies during surgery hours. Please telephone the surgery on 918 7698.

WESTCALL provides emergency medical cover as commissioned by NHS Berkshire West outside our surgery hours, i.e. from 6.30pm to 8.00am Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 6.30pm Friday to 8.00am Monday.

If you do phone the surgery out of hours, a recorded message will be heard telling you to phone the Westcall number. Please listen carefully to the complete message and have a pen and paper ready.

Please do not telephone for an emergency visit unless it is absolutely necessary.

In addition, the Reading Walk In Health Centre is open every day including weekends and Bank Holidays from 8am to 8pm. No appointment is necessary. The Centre is located at 1st Floor, 103-105 Broad Street Mall, Reading RG1 7QA. Telephone: 902 8300.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
